This file contains minutes for the period between October and December 1966. Much of the material concerned the issues surrounding the introduction of colour television in the UK, and interference from Continental stations. Both UHF and VHF were discussed in relation to continental interference. At issue was also the change in transmission standard from 405 to 625 lines. Much of the file contains reports from the Television Advisory Committee’s Technical Sub-Committee.
A press release from the authority concerning the 1965-66 Annual Report highlighted the amount the Exchequer was receiving from commercial television, and from the Authority. The Exchequer received almost £40,000,000 out of the £80,000,000 in advertising revenue received by the television companies, and additional £4,712,000 was collected from the Authority.
